Basic Information
Organization and Responsibilities Description
Rady Children’s Hospital – Occupational and Physical Therapy Department provides occupational therapy & physical therapy services to children from birth to 18 years as well as some adults with muscle disease. We address motor skills, self help skills, feeding, sensory processing and orthopedic injuries. Children's diagnoses include: Autism, Down's Syndrome & various developmental delays. It can be challenging to match a student's schedule with the therapist's schedule to provide enough hours for patient observation. Therefore, it is ideal if the student has flexible availability.

0 to 18 years old and some adults.
Orientation Requirement
Once placement is confirmed, contact site to schedule an orientation.
Check-in Procedure
Covered at first meeting.
Research Availability
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Observation hours are approximate and based on availability of clinicians. Hours can change at the discretion of the therapist. Students must have a flexible schedule in order to accommodate for missed hours due to complications wtih appointment cancellations, client absence, and the therapist's schedule.
Dress Code
Dress for a professional environment: neat, clean, and in good repair. No jeans, no shorts, no tank tops, no open-toed shoes. No piercings other than the ears.

- Letter of clearance from the HDP Field Research Coordinator
- Signed Clinical Affiliation Agreement
- Background Check ($75.00)
- Drug Screen (Packaged with Background Check)
- Immunization Records (MMR, Varicella & Hepatitis B)
- H1N1 Vaccination
- Seasonal Influenza Vaccination
- Completed HIPAA Training
