Organization and Responsibilities Description

Pro Kids: The First Tee of San Diego aims to challenge underserved elementary, middle, and high school youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills, and values through education and the sport of golf. HDP 191 students serve as mentors and assist staff through the Learning Center or golf program activities.

Age(s) of Participants

Children and youth, ages 7-17 years old.

Orientation Requirement

Student should attend one basic orientation before start date. The date and time of the orientation can be established between the student and the Volunteer Coordinator.

Check-In Procedure

Student should schedule him or herself online prior to volunteering. Once on site, volunteer must log-in to our volunteer tracking system upon arrival, and log out once completed with service each day. Brief training will be provided on how to access this system.

Research Availability

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fridays are our slowest days, so that would be the only day research would be limited. Volunteer participation is not encouraged on Fridays.

Dress Code

Casual, work-appropriate attire allowed for volunteers at the tutoring center. Golf attire is required for volunteers with the Gold Program.

Testing Requirements

  1. Letter of Clearance from Field Research Coordinator
  2. Interview
  3. Clean background check through NCSI
  4. Orientation
