Serving Seniors – West Senior Wellness Center

Basic Information

Organization and Responsibilities Description

Serving Seniors is a private and non-profit organization founded in 1970, with the mission to provide quality and compassionate services for the health and independence of seniors living in poverty, and end senior hunger through innovative solutions. As part of this network, The Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center is a multipurpose senior center that provides nutrition, activities, socialization, computer education, civic engagement, social services, health services, mental health services, and supportive housing services to low-income adults 60 years of age and older.

Students observe and engage with residents and social service workers, nurses, mental health practitioners, nutrition staff, and activities staff.

New programs: This center has recently incorporated individual health screenings for seniors, as well as a free dental clinic, which may be future areas for student research.
