HDS 98 - Directed Group Study
Directed group study, on a topic or in a field not included in the department curriculum, by arrangement with a faculty member. Topics will vary from quarter to quarter. Pass/Not Pass grades only. Enrollment requires prior consent of the instructor; students must have at least thirty units completed and a minimum 3.0 GPA (exceptions are considered). Student may enroll for no more than a total of two units in one quarter. Cannot be used towards HDS major/minor credit.

Enrollment Process
- Download an HDS 98 application.
- Complete Section I (Section II is pre-filled). Provide signature on Section II
- Submit the application to the Human Developmental Sciences Student Affairs Office (AP&M 5320) for completion of Section III. The application is subject to approval
- Enrollment: once the HDS 98 application has been fully processed by Human Developmental Sciences students must physically take the completed form to the Registrar in order to enroll in the course.
Pre-requisites: overall 3.0 GPA and at least 30 units completed**
**GPA and/or unit exceptions allowed—college approval also required.
Note: Pass/No Pass only. Not for HDS Major or Minor Credit.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (exceptions considered -- must also be approved by college).
- Minimum 30 cumulative units completed (exceptions considered -- must also be approved by college).
- May be taken for 1 or 2 units.
- Must be taken Pass/No Pass.
- No HDS major or minor credit.
- 3 hours of research/work per week.
- Means of evaluation and exceptions vary according to faculty instructor as outlined on the 98 application.
- Please note that some professors may require student to commit to a 2 unit course.
- 6 hours of research/work per week.
