Outdoor Outreach

Basic Information

Organization and Responsibilities Description

Outdoor Outreach provides adventure-based positive youth development programming for youth ages 9-24 whose communities have been historically impacted by social inequities.

Notice: This site requires skilled volunteers. Skilled Volunteers are individuals who are experienced in the types of programs they volunteer on (ex: rock climbing, surfing, mountain biking, etc). You are expected to be able to assist staff in coaching students on programs, but you are not expected to teach students or lead activities on your own. You are not limited to one type of program – as long as you are experienced in that activity, you can volunteer for it! Students will provide support to coaches, assist student participants, and participate in the activities themselves. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend training on guiding activities. Ideally, students would have skills in two areas. All activities are introductory level.

Skills:

  • Hiking, climbing (indoor and outdoor), mountain biking, fishing are fall-spring activities
  • Kayaking is late march to early October
  • Surfing and stand up paddle boarding are summer only activities
