Reality Changers: Agentes De Cambio prepares inner-city teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds to become the first in their families to attend a four-year university. The organization provides academic support, financial assistance, mentorship, and leadership training. HDS 191 students serve as mentors and youth coaches and work with middle and high school students at community-based after-school programs.
HDS students have played an integral role at Reality Changers for several years. We value your contributions and the immediate impact that you have on our program. HDS students select one night per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays) to participate at one of our locations. Each program follows the same format: SAT Prep, family-style dinner, guest speaker, "Congress," and study time. HDS students actively participate in all aspects of the evening as mentors, coaches & tutors. HDS students will have a direct impact on whether many of the Reality Changers students can qualify for UCSD's Academic Connections Summer Residential Program--a life-changing college program. We hope to have you join us.
14 to 18 years old.
The orientation is one hour and will be held the hour before your first day participating.
Check in with the site director. Ask how to be helpful during the pre-program (5:30 to 6:00 p.m.), participate actively during the program (6:00 to 9:00 p.m.) and ask how to be useful during dismissal (9:00 to 9:30 p.m.).
